I greatly enjoyed spending time here. Fairly clean and quirky hotel with marvellous location in a peaceful district, just what I needed. Location: the venue was next to historical monument in the style of the Amsterdamse School from around 1920. Dined at Restaurant Valentino, it was a 10-15 minute walk from the venue. Some of the staff members were very welcoming.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and amicable to deal with. I thoroughly enjoyed the central location, close to very good pubs, historical monuments, town center, and railway station. - It was also near several restaurants.

Very quiet despite being in the middle of the town center. Building is a former prison and still has many original features.
The quality of the bed is not very good.

Very kind staff. Atmosphere is nice. Good location, close to market place.
Not recommended for business traveler such as inconvenient power supply and narrow table.

Great design, quirky set up within the old prison, good reception with welcoming and professional staff.
Room was warm as the windows cannot be opened very far.

I stayed 1 night and would love to come back when visiting Netherlands. Greatly enjoyed how stylish the property was. - the hotel was in a central setting close to restaurants and bars. - It was a short walk to a beautiful, historical monument in the style of the Amsterdamse School from around 1920. - the staff were incredibly nice and understanding day and night.

Very well succeeded transformation of old jail into small modern hotel, with lot of eye for detail and modern design. Great location in the centre, yet very quiet. Its somewhere in between a B&B and a small hotel as the welcome and service is very personal. We had a great stay.

The staff were delightful. They were kind and thoughtful and fun. The design of the place (a restored prison) was nicely done with a bit of whimsy to take the edge off the history of the spot. The breakfast was simple but excellent and having the dining room to hang out in later in the day was good, as my wife and I both wanted to use our computers. The free Wifi worked perfectly and was fast. We recommend the Huis van Bewaring highly to families and business people. We will return to stay there again.

This is a unique hotel experience, and quite quirky and fun. The stay was extremely comfortable but lack of staff made it quite bizarre - but not in any bad way, it was just unusual compared to 'normal' hotel experience. This is a stay right away from plastic, anonymous, uncaring corpoprate hotels and the WiFi was free - something that so called "better" class hotels should take note of
Once you accept the concept and the quirkiness, therer was nothing to complain about. Parking is limited
